Joshua Tree
January 25-26, 2003

The endless road trip continued with a stop at Joshua Tree. Like the previous 3 trips to J-Tree, Hidden Valley Campground was full and we ended up at Jumbo Rocks. I don’t think I will ever be able to camp at Hidden Valley.

Nonetheless, we met up with Yuko the next day at Intersection Rock and had a few low-key days. The first day I wasn’t going to climb at all, since I was still worn out from Bishop. However some boulder problems convinced me otherwise. We checked out some classics like Stem Gem and the Cave Problem and were intimidated. The next day we did some trad climbing and ticked off a few classics like Double Cross, 5.7 and The Bong, 5.4. Though I really like the scenery and friction I never get really psyched about J-Tree. Angela enjoyed it thoroughly and climbing with Yuko is always fun.

The campgrounds were interesting as usual and we managed to see 2 coyotes wandering around and were given free cheese by some climbers who seemed to have too much.
